From the Darwinia Website

We are extremely pleased to announce that Darwinia has been chosen as a Finalist in the 2006 Independent Games Festival. The IGF is a yearly event that takes place in San Jose, California and gives awards and cash prizes to outstanding independent games released over the past year. A good analogy of its function would be the Sundance Film Festivel – but for Games instead of Films. Previous IGF winners have included such great games as Oasis and Gish.

Darwinia is nominated in the following categories:
– Seumas McNally Grand Prize
– Innovation in Game Design
– Technical Excellence
– Innovation in Visual Art
– IGF Audience Award

This means we will be travelling to California next March for around a week, and we will demonstrate our game personally to the judges and the worlds assembled media. The prizes are incredible this year, with Introversion up for a potential $30,000 victory pot if we win all those categories. Previous winners and finalists have also picked up extensive media coverage, which can only be a good thing.
