Variety.com has an interview up with the CEO of Sony that mentions a delay in the Playstation 3 being released. However, the paragraph is NOT a direct quote but rather the quote is AFTER the delay. You be the judge if delay mention was from the CEO of Sony…

Now, electronics and games can take center stage, although major questions loom at those divisions as well.

Sony’s new PlayStation 3 was widely expected to be introduced this spring, but will be delayed as the company fine-tunes the chips that are crucial to the success of the console’s Blu-ray function.

The PlayStation 3 — which is being called "the poor man’s Blue-ray" — is vital to Sony’s plans because it plays Blu-ray discs as well as videogames.

Sony will roll out the PS3 by year end, in time for the holidays. If PS3 "delivers what everyone thinks it will, the game is up," Stringer boasts.

Note that the quote underlined DOES NOT start with "Sony will roll out the PS3 by year end, in time for the holidays". It starts with "delivers what everyone thinks it will, the game is up"…so you be the judge, bad editing? He didn’t actually say "PS3 by year end" or maybe he said it in a different way and they didn’t quote it?

We’ll find out at E3 if Sony updates us on the "Spring" release of the Playstation 3! But the PS3 could be delayed till Holiday 2006!
