Apparently, Venezuela hates Mercenaries 2. It’s only a small matter, where the game is based around bringing down a fictional Venezuelan “Tyrant”…

According to the BBC (Via AP), President Hugo Chavez is a fanatical believer that the US is going to invade (The US says they aren’t) and all that jazz. He’s been against the US  since 1998, so this is just another thing for him to point and shout about.

Ismael Garcia (Admirer of Prez Chavez) said that the game is an example of preparation for a real invasion of the country, stating “I think the US Government knows how to prepare campaigns of psychological terror so they can make things happen later”.

On the flip side of the coin, Pandemic stated that they’re not linked to the US Government (neglecting to mention Full Spectrum Warrior/Army Training, created for the US Army), and publicist Chris “Not Chuck” Norris said that the company “always wants to have a rip from the headlines”.

Oh well.
