Major news organizations are reporting that the Playstation 3 price will be slashed in Japan only. The only thing is we are getting different numbers as to what the price cut will be in Japan.

– BBC News is reporting 49,980 yen ($430) for the HD model
– Washington Post is reporting 47,600 yen ($410) for the basic model (which doesn’t make sense because the hard drive is not worth $20).
– ZD Net says ONLY the HD model will be reduced in price to 49,980 yen ($430) and not the basic one.

I guess majority rules and the Japanese price drop is only for the HD model and will cost about $430 USD. No word on any price drop for the U.S. model.
