While pre-orders are selling out at a record pace in retail and online stores, Guitar Hero II is destined to become an instant classic for all rock n’ roll and videogame enthusiasts worldwide.

Guitar Hero II, the sequel to the critically-acclaimed Guitar Hero, features a brand new and expanded track list of over 60 songs, along with more rock venues, characters, guitars, and play modes. Guitar Hero II also introduces an innovative co-op mode that will encourage a greater rock band experience by providing the ability to either play the lead, and bass or rhythm guitar tracks.

“We’re bringing rock n’ roll back to the masses, and Guitar Hero is helping to introduce a new generation of fans to many of the greatest rock songs of all-time,” said Dusty Welch, head of publishing at RedOctane. “With fresh new content and features in Guitar Hero II, players will surely be able to fulfill their ultimate Rock Star fantasy!”

Welch continues, “We are thrilled to partner with talented musicians who are living the ‘Guitar Hero’ dream. The music industry as a whole has been immensely supportive of this title, and the active musician support, combined with our in-game corporate music brands, lends the game an authentic, unique and addictive gameplay experience.”

Guitar Hero rocked the videogame industry last year, and garnered a stack of awards including: “Best Offline Multiplayer Game 2005” and “Music Game of the Year 2005” from IGN.com, “Best Soundtrack 2005” at the Spike TV Videogames Awards and five D.I.C.E. awards, including Outstanding Innovation in Gaming and Family Game of the Year.

A limited edition Guitar Hero II t-shirt is now available for consumers that pre-order the game through RedOctane’s online store: www.redoctane.com/store.html. Guitar Hero II is rated “T (Teen) by the ESRB and carries a suggested retail price of $79.99.
