Get ready for some alien butt kicking fun with BlackSite: Area 51 for the Xbox 360 and Windows PC today in North America. The Playstation 3 version is scheduled for release on December 10th.

Midway Games Inc., a leading interactive entertainment publisher and developer, today announced that BlackSite: Area 51™ is now shipping to retail outlets nationwide. Combining cutting-edge technology and smart game design, BlackSite: Area 51 is a first-person shooter that brings squad-based and intense combat action to the streets of small-town America. BlackSite: Area 51 is scheduled to be available for a U.S. suggested retail price of $59.99 for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and $49.99 for PCs. A version for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system is scheduled to be released in December. BlackSite: Area 51 is rated "T" for Teen by Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB).

"BlackSite: Area 51 delivers a fast-paced first-person-shooter experience while weaving a politically-inspired storyline that examines modern-day issues ripped from the headlines," said Steve Allison, chief marketing officer, Midway. "With an easy to use one-button squad command feature, players can easily direct their delta force squadmates to assist them as they travel through small town America and the high desert into the heart of Area 51."

BlackSite: Area 51 gives gamers a chance to direct their living, breathing squad mates with a context-sensitive "One-Button Squad Command" control as they make their way through the game’s storyline. Throughout the way, destructible environments can be reduced to rubble, creating interactive cover points that can be blown away with enough firepower.

The BlackSite teaser demo on Xbox LIVE Marketplace has been downloaded more than a million times, and Midway plans to soon release a new, updated demo that allows players to take to the streets in Rachel, NV, controlling their squad and blasting through fully-realistic and interactive environments using the latest in military weaponry. A PlayStation 3 demo is also scheduled to be released soon after the game’s North American launch.
