Nintendo of Canada has launched a new GetUpandPlay.ca website which is great website that encourage family fun time with the Nintendo Wii, you can even send out online invites to a Wii Party and most importantly enter to win a contest to win a trip to Whistler Blackcomb and some other nifty prizes.

Nintendo of Canada Ltd, today launched GetUpandPlay.ca – a site designed to provide parents with fun and healthy ways to encourage active family game-time. Complete with monthly game challenges, online invites, Wii™ party planning tips and customized game information for parents, the site offers support and information for the entire family.


Nintendo has redefined video-gaming to make it accessible and enjoyable for every Canadian with the innovative Wii and Nintendo DS™ systems. “Gaming together at multi-generational family gatherings is one of the strongest trends we are seeing in Canada,” said Ron Bertram, vice president and general manager, Nintendo of Canada. “From first graders to grandma, Wii not only increases activity levels it also works out skills like hand-eye coordination and agility. With the introduction of GetupandPlay.ca, Nintendo of Canada has created a site that encourages this healthy trend and family interaction – something that can benefit every member of the household.”

Games like Wii Sports™ and Brain Age™ 2: More Training in Minutes a Day are designed so anyone, even new players, can instantly become physically or mentally active with Wii and Nintendo DS. Nintendo is building on this foundation with games and accessories that appeal to the current fan base but also new players, including parents of young gamers.

Fun and useful family features that can be found at Nintendo’s GetUpandPlay.ca include:

– Game information system: This parent-friendly feature rates Wii and Nintendo DS games using a variety of criteria including: activity level, age appropriateness and game benefits.

– We Dare You: Families can set up their own challenges and name their stakes.

– Wii Weekend Countdown Clock: users can sign up for the Wii Weekend challenge to learn about the latest game of the month. Tips, tricks and related party ideas will also be sent to registrants.

– Get Up and Play Rewards: participants can promote their family as ‘Get Up and Play Certified’ by posting a badge on a Blog, Facebook, or MySpace page. Once challenges have been completed the family challenge victory certificate can be printed, coloured and posted on the fridge.
