SEGA of America sends word that Samba de Amigo has been released for the Nintendo Wii in North America.  A very cool music/rhythm game where you shake your Wii remote to the beat.

SEGA of America, Inc. today announced that Samba de Amigo, exclusively for the Wii home video game system, has shipped to stores across North America. Voted the best Wii Music/Rhythm Game by IGN.com at this year’s E3, Samba de Amigo is an addictive rhythm game that gets players shaking to the beat with an irresistible Samba-inspired soundtrack and crazy, colorful environments packed with wacky characters.

Based on the popular Dreamcast and arcade classic, Samba de Amigo for the Wii is perfect for any party.  Players of skill levels can compete in a variety of hip-shaking modes, including Arcade, Hustle and Love-Love, using either a Wii Remote™ and a Nunchuk™ or two Wii Remotes. The soundtrack contains over 40 Samba-inspired tunes, some from the original game and some brand new to the Samba de Amigo series, ranging from classic Latin beats to Top 40 pop hits. Samba de Amigo also features some special appearances by classic SEGA stars, including the super fast hero, Sonic the Hedgehog, and the sassy superstar, Ulala.

Samba de Amigo marks the first time downloadable content is available for a Wii disc based game with the first three-song pack available as of today.
