Man waiting for the new stuff sometimes just ain’t fair. SFIV is so far off in our minds with its new hotness, we just wish sometimes the classics can be recreated with that same fire to tide us over. Well, right now we got that, Enter Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for PSN and Xbox Live.

Now you first going to say ….this is just another updated port, and your right! But man we got it good. Capcom first off took the original game of Super Turbo with all the known info we have on it today and threw in all nice and neat with some nice coats of paint. The redone visuals were totally redone by the fine crew of Udon Entertainment( yes the same guys who make those comic books) to totally redraw the sprites for the HD generation…and I mean redraw everything, characters, endings, your fireballs, sonic booms, win poses, expressions, stages, everything now looks minty fresh. If you’re an old school and want the old school look, its still there, just turn it on and relive your childhood.

Now you’re probably thinking let me pick my old time favorite character of chose and get to it…but now as your start listening and not just visually staring at the char select screen you finally hear the awesome redone music done by the folks over at OCremix…and you can get it all for free, every menu/stage character! How can you go wrong with that either?! Hit up there website for the right spot to DL all the tracks in a nice FLAC/mp3 package.

But this is Street Fighter at heart true and true…it’s all about beat downs, VS play, talking smack! It’s been awhile and you’re probably not fresh with your main picks…so you can hit up the very handy and convenient training mode to get you back in the flow, with its handy move list for either the classic mode or the new and enhanced remix mode. As you get into it you notice your old moves has gotten much simpler in the Remixed mode like 360’s, 720’s and other old time favorites which dove you nuts back in the day. Yes, now Zangief, Honda, Guile etc can be played with much more ease now something you should seriously invest some time to check into to get back in to fighting form.

Now that you have spent some time in the gym, the music pumping your up like Rocky, time to start out where it all began the first time you played, Arcade mode. Yup, Arcade mode hasn’t changed much at all, pick your character, battle through 12 CPU players busting out those new motions for combos and moves to get to the main guy, M.Bison. Crown him a new one then see a small story ending involving who you favor and your off to the races all over again. After you get all the cast done and finished up feeling really good about yourself. Time to step into the real arena; it’s your time to go online. You have the choice of doing Ranked matches, Tournaments, or just kicking in a 6 player lobby with friends or strangers who want to test your style.

Ranking Mode is pretty simple it’s the way you test your rank globally and prove you’re the best around the block and pick up some gamerscore along the way.

Tournaments are just that, find a host or start up your own up to 8 people and do some quick heated battle in a best 3 of 5 rounds single elimination format bracket.

Player/Lobby play myself I think is the best, you can search for a nice low ping/lag room and hop right in or you can get up to 6 buddies start up a lobby and just go at it,  and if your not involved you can spectate the matches before so your not left out of the action with voice chat its fun to totally have do it yourself commentary/talk smack if your amongst your buddies…better up your game or you could be put to shame publicly : )

Now for the best overall taste you definite want to get an arcade stick, I won’t even hassle you all with how bad using the 360 d-pad is and it’s just not the same. I offer one or two solutions for the people who want to get farther then using a pad.

Grab a Hori EX2/Sc4/Vf5 stick I have one and its not the best but its gets the job done….but if you can wait ( I know I can ) Madcatz is putting out 2 sweet models of sticks and a Saturnequse gamepad for fighting fans in general. The Info which can be found over at Shoryuken.com forums (http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=162653) Shouts to Markman doing it right! you know my money is yours, : ) Or you can try to built a custom stick these is plenty of info out there for that, for finding people who can do one up for you or self made, or try out Arcade In a Box http://www.aiabstore.com/ has custom stick orders to what suits your needs. Overall sticks are more expensive but if you want arcade feel you probably need to shell out that little bit of extra cash….behind hardcore is not cheap.

Now I know I’m probably just giving you the bare minimum here because this game has a deep history but I do know the places where you can get way more in depth info because many of us are like 10 years behind the natural curve of the game. So I want to shoutout the following places I go to myself:

http://www.sirlin.net/sf-text-only
David Sirlin has his own website because he made the classy remake what it is for us today. Even though he no longer works for Backbone he definite needs to be given props. I’m still trying to play to win everyday.

http://forums.shoryuken.com/
This is like the forum Mecca for the capcom fighters we love to hate and hate to love. There are so much of all types of information from the basic casual level to hardcore tourney level. People all over the US, Canada, Europe, and Japan all migrate here to cover all the bases you want to know about everything under the Capcom rainbow.

http://sdtekken.com/tech-area/
Markman knows his sticks, if you’ve seen a stick he has probably owned it, has it in his closet or got an opinion.  He also runs the tech talk area as a Mod over on SRK….lots of info in that sub forum to. Oh SRK what can’t you do.

Gameplay

Same old street fighting we’ve been doing for years.

Graphics

Your choice keep it old school or check the new freshness and the flip of an option toggle.

Sound

New game, new updated music from OCremix crew free to download!, time to rock out pulling punches.

Overall

This will keep the energy going until we get Street Fighter IV on the shelves…then we all will have to try to balance both great titles..so hard to choose these days.
