Ubisoft has released two new videos from the upcoming Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X.
The XP system works like most such systems in its basic function:
– The player performs actions that get rewarded with XP
– XP adds up and, when reaching certain amounts, the player increases in level
– Each new level unlocks something
What is important to note is that the system is unified. It is the same system for Campaign and Team Deathmatch, single or multi player. Any XP that he gains in either of these feeds the same XP pool and any reward that he gets can be used all circumstances.
The actions that give XP are:
– Kills, both in Team Deathmatch and Campaign (both alone and in coop).
– Challenges. These are Achievement type requirements that the player can accomplish. For instance “Kill 20 air targets with Basic Missiles”. Each one can be done only once and provides a fixed amount of XP.
Levels are called ranks (and have appropriate names, like Lieutenant; the first one is Airman Basic and the last is General of the Airforce).
Levels can unlock:
– Planes
– A new weapon pack for a certain plane
– A new skin for a certain plane
After each mission or TDM match, the player can see his progress. He also is notified during missions when he has completed a challenge. There is also a special menu called Pilot Records where the player can check his current level and all the challenges, with his progress for each of them. He can also check what level unlocks a certain item by selecting that item (locked plane, weapon pack).
