At PAX East this weekend, 343 Industries hosted a panel called “‘Halo 4’ Multiplayer: Past, Present, and Future,” where thousands of passionate fans received a sneak peek at what’s on the horizon for “Halo 4” Infinity multiplayer. 343 announced a new 1-50 level ranking system called “Competitive Skill Rank” (CSR), which measures your performance in War Games, intelligently matches you against opponents of comparable skill, and displays your rank on your Halo Waypoint player profile.

Additionally, 343 showcased a live demo of “Forge Island,” a massive new play space that will give Forge creators both the acreage and new building assets to craft an infinite range of multiplayer maps for the “Halo” community to explore and enjoy – available for free on Xbox LIVE on April 11.

343 also unveiled some of the new improvements coming to Infinity multiplayer in the next “Halo 4” title update, discussed the exciting new maps and game types players can look forward to in the Castle Map Pack (which launches on April 8 alongside CSR), and shared some of the highlights and eye-popping stats the community has achieved in War Games since launch.
