LucasArts, a Lucasfilm Ltd. company, announced today a new internally developed videogame franchise, Star Wars 1313. The game will make its formal debut at the 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles June 5-7. As players take control of a lethal bounty hunter in a never-before-seen dark and mature world, Star Wars 1313 introduces an integrated development approach by bringing together great artists across the Lucasfilm organization, including LucasArts, Industrial Light & Magic, Lucasfilm Animation Ltd. and Skywalker Sound. A third person cinematic action adventure game, Star Wars 1313 will bring to life the Coruscant underworld, the most dangerous place in the Star Wars galaxy.

Named for Level 1313, a ruthless criminal underground deep below the surface of the planet of Coruscant, the game puts players in control of a deadly bounty hunter as he uses an arsenal of exotic weaponry to hunt down his marks and uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy. Star Wars 1313 emphasizes epic set pieces and fast-paced combat with a hero who uses human skills and gadgets, rather than supernatural Force powers, to make his way through this dangerous world.

Mario Tennis Open – Review (3DS)

Posted By Michael Leparc On May 28, 2012 at 7:11 pm Comments Off on Mario Tennis Open – Review (3DS)

Mario Tennis Open ScreenshotMario has been hitting the tennis the courts for well over a decade now, starting with a now somewhat infamous role as a pack-in for the doomed Virtual Boy console. Developed primarily by Camelot, the series has progressed to become one of the dependable stand bys in the Mario sports genre. Mario Tennis Open is the first appearance on handhelds since the Gameboy Advance’s 2005 version, skipping the DS generation in the process. Those familiar with the earlier titles will wonder if some rust has built up in Mario’s swing over the seven year absence. The answer may depend on what you like most about the game.

Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir – Review (3DS)

Spirit Camera The Cursed Memoir ScreenshotThe survival horror genre has mutated over time with the injection of new technology. Mostly gone are the days of slowly and deliberately making one’s way through a puzzle-filled map with few strategically placed foes. As later console generations became more graphically slanted, survival horror slowly dissolved to be replaced by what can only be described as the horror first person shooter genre. Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir for the 3DS is a unique entry into the horror genre, because it evolves with the new 3D and augmented reality (AR) capabilities of the 3DS while including gameplay that harkens back to the survival horror games found in earlier generations. Unfortunately, the results are mixed.

Prototype 2 – Review (Xbox 360)

Posted By David Klein On May 28, 2012 at 10:59 am Comments Off on Prototype 2 – Review (Xbox 360)

Prototype 2 ScreenshotBack in 2008, when I first heard about Prototype it sounded like an amazing concept, a super-powered antihero whose powers that rival even those of Superman. Prototype then came out in 2009 and the game turned out to be a mixed bag with the game throwing at you all sorts of abilities but since all the missions were quite alike the constant addition of powers did little to keep you interested in the game even with the mass amount of abilities and challenges available. Fast forward to 2012 where the sequel for Prototype has arrived this time with a whole new protagonist, same old New York City but one year later. Has the flaws of the first game been addressed or is this just a by the books sequel that doesn’t distinguish itself.
