Lumines: Electronic Symphony – Review (PS Vita)

Posted By Rob Dillman On April 23, 2012 at 3:24 pm Comments Off on Lumines: Electronic Symphony – Review (PS Vita)

There is one compliment that reigns supreme over any other given to a puzzle game. RPGs have their storytelling. Fighters and RTSes have their competitive balance and strategy. Puzzle games, more than any other genre, have their unbridled addictive natures. If a puzzle game doesn’t cause its players to spend every waking moment in societal functions and obligations thinking about it like a brain-starved zombie (or a, well, puzzle game-starved Star Trek: TNG character) for the first week after playing it, it doesn’t belong in the pantheon of puzzle games. Ubisoft’s Lumines: Electronic Symphony proves once again that the Lumines series has undeniably earned its place there.

Kid Icarus: Uprising – Review (3DS)

Posted By David Klein On April 19, 2012 at 3:23 pm Comments Off on Kid Icarus: Uprising – Review (3DS)

Nintendo has been known for creating many franchises though one franchise in particular has been left out in the cold for many years, that being Kid Icarus. The last time we saw the series’ main hero Pit in action was in the often forgotten but still classic original Gameboy title Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters released back in 1991. Otherwise speaking Pit’s only other appearances have been in Super Smash Brothers Brawl and the Virtual Console version of the NES game. Now fast forward to 2012 where the franchise has been dusted off and finally Pit is set on a new adventure of his very own. Will Kid Icarus: Uprising be the super charge Pit needs to reboot this long overlooked franchise or will this one time experiment be a failure?

Prey 2 – An Update

Posted By Justin Lee On April 19, 2012 at 11:57 am Comments Off on Prey 2 – An Update

Many rumors have been flying around the internet about Prey 2 being cancelled, but this is not the case from Bethesda:

Development of Prey 2 has not been cancelled but the game will not be released in 2012 as planned. The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year, and the game does not currently meet our quality standards. Prey 2 has shown great promise and we regret disappointing our fans. We have made a substantial investment in game development to deliver the experience fans want. We are determined only to release the AAA game that fans rightfully expect, and are unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule.

Armored Core V – Review (Xbox 360)

Posted By Michael Leparc On April 19, 2012 at 11:30 am Comments Off on Armored Core V – Review (Xbox 360)

Armored Core V ScreenshotFor whatever reason, mech games have fallen somewhat out of fashion this console generation. Microsoft and FASA have puzzlingly decided to shelve the MechAssault series after a fantastic run on the original Xbox, and other promising franchises like Chromehounds met their end far too soon to really make a mark. One would assume by natural selection that the Armored Core franchise lives on because it is the best, but that determination is easily questioned by the series’ current release, Armored Core V. What we’re ultimately left with is a game that teases us with what other mech franchises could have delivered had they had just stuck around a bit longer, in a package that while rewarding for veterans to unwrap is just too much to ask of the average gamer today.
