Tales from Space When Mutant Blobs Attack ScreenshotPart of Sony’s push for the Playstation Vita is to expand its downloadable line-up with some cheaper fare, making it more competitive with the mobile phone platforms out there. Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack is an early highlight of that approach, being the least expensive launch title clocking in at just under the $10 price point. However, it is anything but the least fun game on the handheld, being a highly original platfomer that does some of the same tricks phone games do while still taking advantage of the buttons and analog sticks a dedicated gaming system provides.

Men of War: Condemned Heroes – Launch Trailer

Posted By Justin Lee On April 9, 2012 at 4:41 pm Comments Off on Men of War: Condemned Heroes – Launch Trailer

Men of War: Condemned Heroes tells the story of one of the infamous Soviet penal battalions during the WWII. These battalions are famous for being formed under Stalin’s “No step back!” order #227. They consisted of court-martialed officers that were given a chance to redeem their crimes, or incompetence, in blood by serving as the lowest enlisted rank in a battalion that was assigned the most dangerous tasks. These battalions’ images are surrounded by many myths, and this game tells the truth about these regiments based on real evidence from their former members.

Take command of one of these notorious companies and lead it to victory against all odds through most of the war on the Eastern front. Fight from desperate battles in 1942 in the area of Volyn in the Ukraine, to the massive operation “Bagration” in the Brest area, as well as Magnush bridgehead and the Warsaw area in Poland and finally to attacks on the German Altdam and Stettin near the end of the war. The game is due out on April 12 on Steam for Windows PC.

I Am Alive, while available for the reasonable price of $15 on Xbox Live Arcade, is a classic case of a decent idea with middling execution. Here’s why.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D – Review (3DS)

Posted By Michael Leparc On April 9, 2012 at 2:47 pm Comments Off on Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D – Review (3DS)

Metal Gear Solid 3D Box ShotA couple years ago, when the Nintendo 3DS was first announced, Konami put out a little tech demo of Metal Gear Solid 3 running on the system. This was just meant to show off the graphical prowess of the system, with no real plans to turn it into a full game. That quickly changed a few months later at Nintendo World 2011 when Konami announced Snake Eater 3D would be released within a year, with special treatment towards the handheld’s features. At the same time, however, Metal Gear Solid has also been rereleased in HD form on the home consoles, so is this really the port worth getting, and does it do justice to the original anyway? In the end, Konami has done the best they could to play to the Nintendo 3DS’s strengths, but it still doesn’t come across as a game totally fit for the small screen. It’s really up to what you’re willing to trade off.

Rayman Origins PS Vita ScreenshotWhat’s a handheld without a good platformer? As Nintendo found out with its 3DS, until a flagship Mario platformer was finally released, not much. So here comes Rayman to save the day in the Vita’s launch window, care of Ubisoft.
