#IDARB Review – Xbox One

IDARB Logo
#IDARB is an interesting little trip. When I started hearing about it, it had comparisons to some action sports titles like Cyberball. Now take that basic idea of wacky sports, but make it a weird basketball/blitzball/soccer hybrid. And then totally go nuts with it. That’s #IDARB, short for It Draws a Red Box.

Resident Evil Review – Xbox One (Also on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Xbox 360)

Resident_Evil_title_logoWant to feel a bit old? It’s been about 19 years since the original Resident Evil released on the Playstation in 1996. And it’s been about 13 years since the 2002 remake that this version of the game is based on. Although Resident Evil’s 2002 rendition isn’t a stranger to port jobs, this latest attempt at revisiting the classic follows the last effort on the Wii. But the visual upgrades and the new control scheme make this entry more inviting for those who are new, or wished for something other than the original’s ‘tank’ controls.

Games for Gold February 2015

Posted By Justin Lee On January 28, 2015 at 4:50 pm Comments Off on Games for Gold February 2015

games-with-gold-promotionHere are the Xbox Games with Gold offerings for February 2015:

Xbox 360:
· Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons ($14.99 ERP): Available from Feb. 1 – 15 on Xbox 360
· Sniper Elite V2 ($29.99 ERP): Available from Feb. 16 – 28 on Xbox 360

Xbox One:
· #IDARB ($14.99 ERP): Available from Feb. 1 – 28

· #IDARB is a stunning conglomeration of game types built into one title. Part platformer, part hockey, part fighting game, and part party game, #IDARB features tight controls and a frenetic, eight-player local co-op core that makes it a blast to play offline or online. The game was built based on suggestions that developer Other Ocean Interactive received from fans on Twitter, and includes some truly unique game options, including the ability to make your own music, characters, and spectator interaction with real-time games via social media! One of the most exciting things about the game is that it’s ever-changing, and the developer has promised to continue adding new content, characters, and even gameplay elements over the course of #IDARB’s life cycle.

· Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is a powerfully emotional tale of two young men struggling to save their father’s life in a medieval fantasy world. They must work together to overcome obstacles of the physical and magical variety – facing down angry giants, insane cultists, and a town seemingly frozen by snow in an instant. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons presents a vibrant world, which the titular characters discover just as surely as they discover how powerful the bond between siblings can really be.

· Sniper Elite V2 is a third-person shooter that places you at the midst of World War II, trying to put an end to Germany’s V-2 rocket program with nothing but your wits and your handy sniper rifle. Stealth and a steady trigger finger are what counts here, although a bevy of items and upgrades transform the game from a simple stealth shooter to an open-ended adventure. Sniper Elite V2 also features a robust cooperative multiplayer mode that sees players working together, which adds a lot of extra depth to the game.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D Preview – 3DS

Posted By Eric Kelly On January 26, 2015 at 2:41 pm Comments Off on The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D Preview – 3DS

TheLegendofZeldaMajorasMask3D_LogoI was lucky enough to play Majora’s Mask early, and you can expect a review soon. But for now, here’s a sneak peek at what to expect for The Zelda of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D for the Nintendo 3DS.

The game is a remake of the Y2k N64 classic. The game was so big that it required the Expansion pack, a jumper pack that provided more memory to give the N64 a boost in texture rendering or allow for more content to be played. Good thing technology has advanced, and you don’t need anything extra to play this version. And the Visual upgrade is wonderful. Just like Grezzo’s other remastering of Ocarina of Time, the extra level of graphic detail brings the world of Termina to life more than ever before. The Bomber Notebook, which was used to keep track of side-quests is back. But it’s also been upgraded to be more useful and accessible. The latest unresolved quest will be at the top of the list, and quests that have multiple parts to them will have number markers denoting there might be more to the questline. Quests that are time sensitive will also be indicated with a clock icon.
In fact the game will very clearly let you know everything that gets updated without you having to check it manually. It’s a nice upgrade and will act like a de facto strategy guide of sorts.

Club_NintendoAfter more than six years of delivering fun Nintendo-themed rewards to its members, Club Nintendo is preparing to shut down. Nintendo’s loyalty-rewards program rewarded members with a variety of items, such as downloadable games, Nintendo posters or character figures in exchange for Coins that members earned by registering products or completing surveys. Club Nintendo members in the United States and Canada can earn additional Coins through the end of March, and can redeem those Coins through the end of June. Nintendo of America will be announcing a new customer loyalty program at a later date.

“We thank all Club Nintendo members for their dedication to Nintendo games and their ongoing love for our systems and characters,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “We want to make this time of transition as easy as possible for our loyal Club Nintendo members, so we are going to add dozens of new rewards and downloadable games to help members clear out their Coin balances.”
