Electronic Arts Inc. announced today the return of SSX, one of the most critically-acclaimed videogame properties of all-time. Netflix, Inc. today announced licensing agreements with a range of leading content providers that adds hundreds of new titles that Canadian Netflix members can watch instantly on their computers and TVs. The agreements add significantly to the growing selection of movies and TV episodes that can be streamed instantly from Netflix for only $7.99 a month following the launch of the company’s service in Canada in late September.

Bethesda Softworks, a ZeniMax Media company, today confirmed the upcoming release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the next installment in the award-winning Elder Scrolls series and follow up to the 2006 Game of the Year, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Developed by Bethesda Game Studios under the direction of Todd Howard, Skyrim will be released on Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, and Games for Windows worldwide on November 11, 2011. Details on the game will be revealed in our exclusive cover story in Game Informer’s February issue, which ships to subscribers in early January 2011.

“It’s exciting finally to announce the game,” said Todd Howard, Game Director on Skyrim. “We’ve been working for many years on Skyrim and the technology behind it. A new Elder Scrolls game has been a long time coming, and we can’t wait to show it off.”

EA and Bioware Announces Mass Effect 3

It’s humanity’s last stand and only Shepard can save us. On Saturday, leading video game developer BioWare, a division of Electronic Arts Inc., unveiled Mass Effect 3, one of the most highly anticipated games of 2011. After weeks of rumor across dozens of gaming websites and blogs, the speculation finally came to an end as the world witnessed, “Earth”, the game’s spectacular premier trailer, broadcast exclusively on the Spike Video Game Awards (VGAs). Mass Effect 3 is the pinnacle of Commander Shepard’s emotionally charged journey. Mass Effect 3 is set to launch globally in holiday 2011 on the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system, the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system and the PC — this marks the first time the Mass Effect franchise will launch on all three major platforms simultaneously. Call of Duty is now one of the powerhouse franchises in the industry and that was helped by its creator, Infinity Ward. But once the series went to an every year release, someone had to help them out and that team became known as Treyarch. The digital world of TRON is re-born this month in both the TRON: Evolution video game and Walt Disney Pictures’ “TRON: Legacy.” Disney Interactive Studios today announced that its TRON: Evolution video game is now available in North America for the DS, PSP, PlayStation 3, Windows PC and Xbox 360 platforms. TRON: Evolution takes place between the original “TRON” film from 1982 and the highly anticipated 3D film “TRON: Legacy,” which will be released in theaters on December 17, 2010.
