External Storage, Real Names and More Coming with Xbox One System Update in June

Posted By Justin Lee On May 22, 2014 at 10:12 am Comments Off on External Storage, Real Names and More Coming with Xbox One System Update in June

Xbox One LogoMicrosoft has announced a system update coming in June, two of the most-requested features will be added to your Xbox One: external storage support and real names for identifying your friends. Read on more from Major Nelson’s blog post below and check out the video showing off the new features:

Since our launch of Xbox One last year, we’ve been hard at work to continue making Xbox One the best destination for all your gaming and entertainment experiences. Because of the way we’ve designed the Xbox One platform, we’ve been able to continually improve the product for you with a more regular cadence of system and app updates. Your feedback for what you want most has been our guiding light for these updates, and will continue to be as we work to bring the fan-favorite features you want most.

Real names and external storage support are just the beginning for June. With this update, Xbox Live is being improved in a number of ways as we announced last week. You will also be able to take advantage of great new SmartGlass features, including OneGuide and Universal Remote Control, select an account for automatic sign-in, and for Xbox One owners in Canada and Europe, get access to OneGuide and more TV, SmartGlass and voice features.

Easily Increase Games Capacity with External Storage Support
It couldn’t be easier to increase your storage capacity of games and apps with the external storage support features we’re bringing in June. Your Xbox One system will soon support up to two external hard drives at once. Simply plug in your 256 GB or larger USB 3.0 external hard drive and once formatted, copy and move games, apps and game add-ons to increase your storage capacity at home.

This is also a great way to take your content to a friend’s house and get straight into a game directly from an external drive. You’ll need to sign in to Xbox Live if you’ve purchased your content digitally or insert a disc to verify your game ownership when you take your content on the road. The great benefit here is there’s no need to wait to re-download your game and all the DLC. With external storage support in June, you can also choose to copy full games and all of the associated content in one easy step.

Kirby: Triple Deluxe Review – Nintendo 3DS

Posted By Michael Leparc On May 20, 2014 at 9:55 am Comments Off on Kirby: Triple Deluxe Review – Nintendo 3DS

Kirby_Triple_Deluxe_LogoEveryone’s favorite little pink ball of puff is back in action after a three year hiatus (two if you count his 20th anniversary collection I suppose). With Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Nintendo continues its tried and tested platforming formula, as it’s been on a roll with 2.5D platformers in the Mario and Donkey Kong franchises as well, but with this exclusive 3DS release Kirby is also going back to his roots over 20 years ago as a handheld game, and that’s something great to see after so much experimentation and ports littering his past portable games.

Watch Dogs Logo
Ubisoft decided to prank some people with their smartphones by doing some “Street Hacking” just like in the Watch Dogs game.

An amazing smartphone app turns common people into powerful hackers and hidden cameras record their reaction as they unwillingly hack a street of Los Angeles. You won’t believe what they do when the police show up!

Watch Dogs will be available worldwide on May 27, 2014, for PlayStation®4 system, PlayStation 3 system, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.

LEGO The Hobbit Video Game 01Lego The Hobbit is the latest game from TT Games. Established in 2005, this developer is best known for marrying the Lego property with popular movies franchises into a videogame package. This started with Star Wars and has weaved through popular franchises like Batman and Harry Potter. Now in the middle of 2014, they are tackling The Hobbit, based upon the films by Peter Jackson. They have already done The Lord of the Rings so this won’t be their first foray into this universe but with all the Lego games, will fatigue have set in?

343 Industries Reveals Halo 5: Guardians / First Artwork and Box Shot

Posted By Justin Lee On May 16, 2014 at 10:01 am Comments Off on 343 Industries Reveals Halo 5: Guardians / First Artwork and Box Shot

343 Industries has revealed the official name and approximate release for the next Halo game!

In the past, “Halo” games have pushed the Xbox forward, showcasing the console and its ecosystem in entertaining and innovative ways. Making a “Halo” game that runs at 60 frames per second, on dedicated servers, with the scope, features and scale we’ve been dreaming of for more than a decade, is non-trivial. It’s a task that we, at 343 Industries, are taking very seriously to ensure we deliver the “Halo” game that fans deserve, and a game that is built from the ground up for Xbox One.

I’m happy to reveal that “Halo 5: Guardians,” the next installment in the legendary saga of the Master Chief, will launch on Xbox One in fall of 2015. In the tradition of every “Halo” game since its debut in 2001, it is a massive and exciting project.

“Halo 5: Guardians” is a bigger effort than “Halo 4.” That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand new and more powerful engine. Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we’ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen.

More will be revealed at E3 2014! Read the rest of the post on the Xbox News Wire.

Agents,

Today we announced that Tom Clancy’s The Division will be available in 2015 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

We want to thank you again for the exceptional ongoing support. Community is at the heart of what we are doing and we’re very much designing the game with you in mind, so your involvement means a lot to us.

Xbox LiveWith all the big news about Netflix, Hulu and other video apps not requiring Xbox Live Gold anymore. Many gamers were wondering if they could cancel their Xbox Live Gold membership and get a refund for the unused portion. The answer is yes, but there is a catch: Of course no more free games with the Games with Gold, but any existing games you downloaded will still work for the Xbox 360. Xbox One games will not function after you cancel Xbox Live Gold.

Will I be able to cancel my Gold membership?

Yes. Once the Xbox One and Xbox 360 system updates become available in June, Xbox Live Gold members who purchased a paid membership before that day can cancel and receive a pro-rata refund of any unused remaining days between the date of cancellation and the date their paid Gold membership ends. Cancellation and pro-rata refund requests must be made by August 31, 2014 and require six to eight weeks for processing. Free or trial Gold memberships are not eligible for a refund.
