Demon Gaze Review – PlayStation Vita

Posted By Eric Kelly On May 6, 2014 at 4:33 pm Comments Off on Demon Gaze Review – PlayStation Vita

Demon Gaze_postbattle_06When I first about developer Experience’s game Students of the Round for the Xbox 360, I was hoping that it would make its way over to Western territories, but alas, it wasn’t to be. Thankfully NISA saw fit to pick up its successor for the Vita, Demon Gaze. The game is styled in the dungeon crawling gameplay of the RPG heyday, and this game is still very rooted in that mold, although it does try a few thing to stand out, which might have mixed feelings for player’s sensitivities and sensibilities.

Posted By Justin Lee On May 1, 2014 at 3:33 pm 1 COMMENT

n3ds_mariogolfworldtour_01Mario golf has always been a hit with gamers, well designed courses, lots of unlockable items and tons of single player fun. Now Nintendo ramps it up with Mario Golf: World Tour for the 3DS, featuring the same easy to pick up and master approach. After many tournaments you’ll be able to put a spin or hook on the ball and get that elusive hole in one. Nintendo has also added lots of online play features including tournaments and other test your skills modes to play.

Mario Golf: World Tour has a new Castle Club house for the single player campaign. Here you can upgrade your gear, practice the main 3 courses, enter tournaments with your personal Mii or even hang out with Mario and his friends in the club house. The RPG elements have been removed from the previous game, this is now a straight golf game where you can move up in the single player or multiplayer tournaments. As you win in the game, it will unlock gear for your Mii. Toad’s tutorials in the club house are very useful and should be used so you can master hooking and spinning your shots. Tips are thrown out throughout the game and you can practice any course you like over and over to master all the important points of golf such as wind direction, putting and more. There is quite a lot of content that can be unlocked, from more courses to new players you can use in the Quick Play mode.

Croteam and Devolver Digital are excited to announce that Alligator Pit, an indie development team comprised of Serious Sam fans, have launched Serious Sam Classics: Revolution on Steam Early Access. Created by the Serious Sam community under the supervision of Croteam, this new incarnation of the classic shooter is a unified version of Serious Sam Classic: The First Encounter and The Second Encounter with updated technology, new gameplay modes, new campaign levels, and the inclusion of fan-favorite mods, weapons, and maps.

The original Serious Sam: The First Encounter and The Second Encounter launched to worldwide acclaim in 2001 and 2002 and led to several serious sequels and spin-offs over the past twelve years. Serious Sam Classics: Revolution was started by a small team of dedicated fans that wanted the originals to live on for modern gamers and expand based on the community’s desire for new Serious Sam Classic content. Through Steam Early Access and Steamworks, the fan led development team plans to update some of the underlying technology and create new content, campaigns, and gameplay modes for the legendary shooter.

Serious Sam Classics: Revolution is available now on Steam via Early Access for $4.99 during the launch window. Current owners of Serious Sam Classic: The First Encounter and The Second Encounter on Steam can download the game for free. Boom.

Trials Fusion Review – Xbox One (Also on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox 360)

Posted By Michael Leparc On April 29, 2014 at 12:44 pm Comments Off on Trials Fusion Review – Xbox One (Also on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox 360)

Trails Fusion fmx_tricks_1_1392978328Playing a Trials game is a lot like learning how to ride a bike, the first several attempts you fail miserably and take one bad spill after another, leaving you to wonder why the hell anyone wants to do this anyway, but when it finally clicks you’re left wondering why you ever hated it. Fusion continues this tradition along much of the same lines, its only fault might be the fact that it doesn’t stray from the track.

As alluded to in the last sentence, not much has changed as far as the basic objective of the game, which is to safely navigate a course on a motorbike from left to right, shifting your weight and adjusting your acceleration to account for the many ramps and obstacles in your path to make sure you land safely. There are 40 courses in the main game, with 4 medals each to earn. The first bronze medal is awarded merely for getting to the finish, while silver and gold require beating the course within a given amount of time and avoiding a certain number of crashes/faults (pressing the B button resets your position to the last checkpoint). Unlocking new courses requires earning a specific number of medals from the courses already available to you, which means that you’ll be replaying them whether you like it or not. If the included courses aren’t enough for you, there’s also a track editor as well as a community section full of uploaded tracks ready to go, with curated weekly picks to boot.
