Steins;Gate Review – Windows PC

Posted By Eric Kelly On April 28, 2014 at 1:53 pm Comments Off on Steins;Gate Review – Windows PC

Stein Gates 08Steins;Gate was released back in 2009 to the PC, and over the years it’s seen many ports to other platforms and even got a manga and anime series, most of which have never made it over to the West. The game even got a retooled versions and a sequel of sorts. However, the only format that made it overseas was the anime about a few years ago. That is until now. 5 Years after its release, the original PC version makes its way to the West. It’s interesting as the publisher JASTUSA typically specializes in hentai games. Although they have been dipping into non-eroge territory lately. And I’m grateful, as Steins;Gate is one of the better Visual Novels that I’ve experienced.

Lego_Hobbit__FOBI had a great moment of dissonance while playing Lego Lord of the Rings. Playing as Frodo and Samwise, I took a nice stroll through the Shire, taking in its prestine beauty as I approached old Bilbo Baggins’ house, the largest and most impressive house in the Shire. I paused a moment, thought to myself, “Wow. Bilbo has such a beautiful garden,” And promptly began to destroy his Lego flowers. After chuckling to myself at the irony of this, I realized there is an important criticism here, both of this game and, to a lesser degree, the Lego games in general.

Skylanders is redefining the toys-to-life phenomenon with yet another ground-breaking innovation, Skylanders Trap Team. On October 5 in North America, Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc., will introduce the newest installment to the Skylanders franchise, which will reverse the magic of bringing toys to life – incredibly letting kids pull characters out of the digital world into the physical world.

With Skylanders Trap Team, Portal Masters seek out and defeat the most wanted villains in all of Skylands, pulling them out of the game and into living rooms by capturing them in magical Traps. Players can then send villains back into the game where they play as them to fight for good. The game will include the Traptanium Portal, a new ring of magical energy that enables kids to not only bring their Skylanders to life, but also magically capture villains using the new Traps. Once they’ve defeated the villains, kids will be able to place a Trap into the new portal to capture them. They will also be able to hear the villains inside the Traps, an innovation that truly brings life to toys.

Deception IV: Blood Ties Review – PlayStation 3 (Also on PS Vita)

Deception IV Blood Ties Logo
I’m kind of glad the Deception series is niche and not a AAA series. The series is about resurrecting devils half the time, as well as murdering trespassers in horrible ways. Otherwise, the series would have attracted unwanted media attention, and possibly have been censored. So I’m extra grateful the Tecmo-Koei has decided to take a chance with another localization with this latest entry, Deception IV: Blood ties.
