Child of Light LogoUbisoft releases today a co-op trailer for Child of Light, releasing on April 30, 2014. The turn-based RPG set in the magical world of Lemuria will be available for download for $14.99 on Microsoft Xbox LIVE for the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Microsoft Xbox One, the Sony PlayStation Network for the Sony PlayStation 3 and Sony PlayStation 4, the Nintendo eShop for the Wii U, and Steam for PC and is rated “Everyone 10+.”

Child of Light Co-op Trailer:

Child of Light is created by a small team of seasoned developers based in Ubisoft Montreal. Child of Light has been developed on Ubisoft’s UbiArt Framework, a powerful engine that lets programmers and artists bring their art to life by allowing original concept art to be inserted unedited into the game world. In Child of Light, the effect is that playing becomes akin to stepping into an interactive painting.

Child of Light is a reimagining of classic fairytales, inviting players on an epic adventure into the magical painted world of Lemuria. Players will uncover mysteries, participate in turn-by-turn combat inspired by classic JRPGs, and explore a mystical kingdom. The game puts players in the shoes of Aurora, a child stolen from her home, who, in her quest to return, must bring back the sun, the moon and the stars held captive by the mysterious Queen of the Night. Helped by her companion Igniculus the firefly and several unlikely allies, Aurora will face her darkest fears, including dragons and other mystical creatures in this modern take on a coming-of-age story.

The interactive game of LEGO The Hobbit allows gamers to play along with their favorite scenes from the films, and follows the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins as he is recruited by the Wizard Gandalf to aid Thorin Oakenshield and his Company of Dwarves. Bilbo leaves the comforts of the Shire on a journey through Middle-earth to help the Dwarves reclaim their lost Kingdom of Erebor within the Lonely Mountain. Along the way, he is introduced to ravenous Trolls, dangerous Orcs and, of course, Gollum and his precious Ring. Chuck’s Challenge 3D is the spiritual successor to Chip’s Challenge (if you’ve played PC games for a long time you may very well remember it). After more than a 20-year absence, Chuck Sommerville – the game designer behind Chip’s Challenge – has made a new PC, Mac & Linux puzzle game called Chuck’s Challenge 3D

Developed by Niffler Ltd. and published by Nkidu Games, Chuck’s Challenge 3D is packed with 125 levels that will test players’ logic, wits and reactions. With the included level editor, players can create and share their own puzzles, showing off their inner game designer. Chuck’s Challenge 3D launches today on Steam for Windows, Mac and Linux with a 10% launch discount, for just $8.99 ($9.99 regular price).

Chuck’s Challenge 3D Screenshots:

“Over the last couple of years we’ve been creating a 3D puzzle game based on my original design and over two decades of player feedback,” Niffler’s Chuck Sommerville said. “Chuck’s Challenge 3D mixes the new with the old. We have the original Chip’s Challenge team designing levels, along with cloud gaming improvements that let anyone create and share their own content.”

Fable Anniversary Review – Xbox 360

Posted By Eric Kelly On February 28, 2014 at 11:54 am Comments Off on Fable Anniversary Review – Xbox 360

Fable Anniversary cliffside-pathBack in 2004, Fable released on the Xbox, and it was developed by Lionhead Studios (Big Blue Box, specifically) with Peter Molyneux at the helm. It was an ambitious game that promised to be a grand Action RPG adventure, but Molyneux’s habit of overselling his game and then not being able to incorporate them got the better of him. Despite this, the game was moderately successful, and got a Director’s Cut of sorts called The Lost Chapters, with additional content. Fast-forward to today, and on its 10th anniversary, Microsoft saw fit to re-release the game for the Xbox 360, with an HD makeover. But this version of the game is very loosely HD, for better or worse.

Insurgency Review – (Windows PC / Steam)

Posted By Kevin Lee II On February 27, 2014 at 11:36 am Comments Off on Insurgency Review – (Windows PC / Steam)

Insurgency_new_modes_screenshot_01_featuredInsurgency, developed by New World Interactive, is a refreshing addition to the first-person shooter genre. It is a hardcore FPS which promotes team play and methodical planning to win the match. Insurgency provides you with no mini-map, and a very limited HUD (map objectives, remaining magazines). Friendly-fire is always on which makes you think before you shoot. It takes very few bullets to kill your enemy which, as a result, makes you cautiously and constantly check corners with the leaning function of the game. The game feels like a Counter-Strike, Red Orchestra, and Rainbow Six hybrid. PC shooter fans will not be disappointed with this game. Insurgency is multi-player only title with the exception of a practice mode where you can face AI bots to practice tactics.
