Strider Review – Xbox One (Also on PlayStation 3 and 4 / Xbox 360 / Windows PC)

Posted By Michael Leparc On February 26, 2014 at 2:00 pm Comments Off on Strider Review – Xbox One (Also on PlayStation 3 and 4 / Xbox 360 / Windows PC)

Strider - Citygate_01When reviewing a remake of a classic, it definitely helps to have a familiarity with the source material. Unfortunately I can’t claim much of a stake to that when it comes to Strider, and that’s probably criminal in some folks’ books, but at the same time it lends a different perspective to the proceedings. That is, whether the game is good enough to stand on its own merit without catching any breaks merely for nostalgia’s sake. I can remember seeing the original 1989 Capcom classic in the arcade but if I ever played it, it might not have been more than a couple of times. However, Double Helix has seriously piqued my interest in the original if it’s truly anything like what they’ve put together here.

Halo Spartan Assault – Review Xbox 360 (Also on Windows PC)

Posted By Jeff Markiewicz On February 24, 2014 at 10:36 am Comments Off on Halo Spartan Assault – Review Xbox 360 (Also on Windows PC)

HaloSpartanAssaultConsoleContentScreenshot_Mission4_a343 Industries now firmly holds onto the Halo property and their next entry is Halo Spartan Assault, developed alongside Vanguard Games for all of Microsoft’s platforms. 343 Industries is Microsoft’s new studio filled to the brim with a lot of industry talent and put out Halo 4 over a year ago. Vanguard Games has some experience in crafting small games. In 2010, they made Greed Corp and the following year, Gatling Gears. Both titles garnered average to above average scores. Greed Corp is a turn-based strategy title and Gatling Gears is a twin-stick shooter. Long-story short, it appears that this isn’t Vanguard Games first rodeo with a game like Halo Spartan Assault. Can they take the lessons learned of years prior and make something worthy of the Halo name?

Xbox One Console Kinect and ControllerThe Xbox team is working hard to deliver some exciting updates in March that will make Xbox One even better. But in order to ensure our customers have the best experience on Xbox One and Xbox Live, we need the help of our passionate community.

Beginning today, Xbox is inviting select Xbox Live members to preview new features coming to Xbox One in a March system update and future system updates as they become available, asking them to provide valuable feedback before the updates are implemented worldwide. Selected participants will receive an Xbox Live message with a token to register. The next system update will begin rolling out next week to those who will preview the new features. Once registered, participants will be able to test the early features included in the update and provide feedback on a private forum and can opt out of future waves.

Like Marc Whitten announced last week, the updates coming in March will significantly improve the multiplayer and party experiences on Xbox One. We’re counting on our fans to share their input as we’re putting the final touches on the new features that we plan to deliver in early March.
