UFO Dad Review – PlayStation Vita (Also for Android)

Posted By Eric Kelly On January 13, 2014 at 2:30 pm Comments Off on UFO Dad Review – PlayStation Vita (Also for Android)

UFO Dad screenshot5The Playstation Mobile store has a lot of games in its marketplace, and while there are many simple games on the store, there are occasionally some decent ones. UFO Dad is one of those simple average games that has entered the store.

The game is about a family who for whatever reason have decided to stop an alien invasion using the Wonder Spatula, which is apparently a part of the reason they invaded the planet to begin with. It holds a power the aliens desire I guess. Anyways after that silly introduction, players are thrown into the menu where they can play the game, look at leaderboards, view options, or learn how to play and check the credits. After selecting your character and level, you can begin playing the game. It should be noted that the other family members need to be unlocked by meeting various conditions in gameplay.

Wii Fit U for Wii U Released Today

Posted By Justin Lee On January 10, 2014 at 1:19 pm Comments Off on Wii Fit U for Wii U Released Today

It’s a new year. Why not start it off with a new “U”? On January 10, the retail version of Wii Fit U for Wii U hits stores, just in time to help people get started on their New Year’s resolutions to be more active and get fit. But Wii Fit U doesn’t require heavy equipment or expensive gym memberships. With Wii Fit U, users can get active by navigating a luge course, spraying a water hose, bouncing on a giant trampoline and even grabbing the new Fit Meter to continue their workouts on the go. Fitness doesn’t get any more fun than this.

“Wii Fit U makes fitness fun. It’s as simple as that,” said Ron Bertram, Nintendo of Canada’s vice-president and general manager. “Wii Fit U is a great option for busy moms and families who want to stay active in the comfort of their own homes – which is perfect during the cold winter months.”

Wii Fit U allows users to discover fun new ways to get up and get moving using their Wii U console and Wii Balance Board accessory. The game features some of the best activities from the original Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus games, as well as new activities that incorporate the Wii U GamePad controller. Wii Fit U bundles also come packaged with a new activity meter called the Fit Meter, which is designed to sync up with the game and track daily routines. People can carry the Fit Meter with them anywhere they go, and then easily sync it to their Wii Fit U profiles to track daily activities like steps taken and calories burned. If the user doesn’t reach the calorie target, the game will propose a variety of Wii Fit U exercises to help bridge the gap. All members of the family can even own their own Fit Meter, allowing them to create their own profiles and compare their fitness progress and activities with each other. The Fit Meter can be purchased separately at a suggested retail price of $19.99.

Wii Fit U is the most customizable and shareable game in the series. Users can create their own personalized workouts or select from multiple recommended workouts based on their fitness goals. These workouts can even be tracked using Miiverse (broadband Internet access is required). Members of these Miiverse gym communities can view their favourite workouts, as well as track popular activities and total community calories burned.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 concludes the revamped series in epic style. Featuring a sprawling, open-world environment, free-roaming cameras, and over 20 hours of action, combat and exploration, the new game picks up where the acclaimed original left off. Terraria screenlg4Terraria is a build your own world, choose your own adventure, make your own game kind of game. You’re provided the building blocks to make your own fun, or at least your own housing, armor, and weapons. Play as you see fit: build the best castle ever, search for the best treasure ever, or fight the worst bosses ever. It’s up to you. And now you can do it on the PlayStation Vita.

You start out by creating a rudimentary character, choosing a difficulty level, and the size of your world. Once the game randomly generates your little slice of pixel heaven, you’re dropped in the middle of a heartless world in which you must fight to survive. But you must first survive to fight. Grab your axe and get to chopping wood, because you need to build a house before night falls and the zombies come out to snack on you. Be quick. It will be dark before you know it, and you need to stay alive to build another day.

TP-LINK Archer AC1900 Product ShotGamers need bandwidth, whether it is for low pings or high speed transfers of files…we crave speed. Well looks like TP-LINK is one of the few companies who are ahead of the ball with the announcement of a new IEEE 802.11AC compliant dual band gigabit router. Now remember though that the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 do not have a 802.11AC wireless adapter inside, but I’m sure a wireless bridge will come out soon enough. Check out the details from CES below about the new TP-LINK AC1900:

TP-LINK, a global provider of networking products, today announced the AC1900 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit router, a new addition to its growing line of advanced 802.11ac wireless products.

The TP-LINK AC1900 features the next generation IEEE 802.11AC Wi-Fi standard. It offers data transfer speeds of up to 1.9Gbps, with 1.3Gbps over the clearer 5GHz channel, and 600Mbps over the 2.4GHz Channel — the fastest wireless speeds available on the market today.

With “Beamforming” technology, the router’s transmission signal is remarkably enhanced so that even when a user changes location, the router will optimize the data transmission for the best signal strength possible.
