NBA2k16_logoNBA 2K16 is the latest game in the popular NBA 2K line that stretches all the way back to before the turn of the century with its first entry on the Dreamcast. The franchise’s developer, Visual Concepts, goes back over another two decades. Starting in 1988, they have churned out tons of games like Task Force, Clayfighters, and One. Despite the variety of different games, they found their greatest success with their Sports 2K line and since then, Visual Concepts has churned out consistently high quality sports games year in and year out. Skylanders: SuperChargers Review – Xbox One (Also on all Current Consoles)

Posted By Michael Leparc On October 27, 2015 at 10:38 am Comments Off on Skylanders: SuperChargers Review – Xbox One (Also on all Current Consoles)

Skylanders SuperChargers logoSkylanders is back this year and with another hook this time after the successful Trap Team gimmick introduced a year ago. With an increasingly crowded market of NFC toys and their associated games (see Disney Infinity, Lego Dimensions, and Amiibos), is Superchargers enough to maintain Activision’s foothold in the marketplace?

Superchargers refers to the new vehicle component of the game. That is to say, in order to play the game you now not only need a Skylander, but a vehicle along with it on your new portal. The starter pack includes one along with a couple Skylanders fortunately. The “supercharge” comes to play when you match a Skylander and vehicle of the same element, which adds a buff to each, both in appearance and stats.

LEGO Dimensions Review – PlayStation 4 (Also on all current consoles)

Posted By Eric Kelly On October 20, 2015 at 12:27 pm Comments Off on LEGO Dimensions Review – PlayStation 4 (Also on all current consoles)

Lego Dimensions LogoAnother six months, another LEGO game. Instead of trying to further develop the engine used in LEGO City, Traveler’s Tales has gone right back to using its same old formula of linear and mediocre 3D action platforming. The twist is that it now uses a gimmick that will seek to send players to the poor house by exploiting their love of LEGO and multiple franchises from the past. At its core, it’s a cynical and shameless cash grab that cares to do nothing interesting.

Nova-111 LogoHave you always wanted to get into the rogue-like genre, but always have been turned off by the difficulty or base mechanics that are undesirable like leveling and losing all of your stuff? Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Review – PlayStation 3 (Also on PS Vita)

Posted By Michael Leparc On October 8, 2015 at 4:54 pm Comments Off on Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax Review – PlayStation 3 (Also on PS Vita)

Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax- Box ShotDengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax is one of those games that was never going to make its way across the pond back in the day. After all, it’s a fighting game primarily targeted at fans of a very specific set of manga/anime characters, with a bit of SEGA nostalgia mixed in to boot as a nod towards its publisher. Normally, the size of the audience here never would have amounted to enough to justify the cost of localization. But fortunately we’re at a moment in gaming where content from Japan flows quite freely thanks to increased interest and reduced costs, so can it capitalize on this growing niche, and does it have a more broad appeal for fans of fighters in general?
