Controlling the Handle in NBA LIVE 14

Posted By Justin Lee On October 23, 2013 at 1:36 pm Comments Off on Controlling the Handle in NBA LIVE 14

NBA 14 LogoEA has a new gameplay blog that showcases the game’s authentic responsiveness, various dribble moves and signature styles which helps deliver the most realistic game experience possible.

NBA LIVE 14 is built on the idea that to deliver the most authentic experience possible, you must ensure that the athletes move and respond just like the real thing.

Imagine a scenario where you are in an isolation situation and as a dribbler you fake to your left with a “hesi” move. You do this to get the defender to shift his momentum to his right so that you can cross back left to create space.

The driving force behind your success rests on the defender having to arrest his momentum before he can recover and chase you. This takes time and gives you as a dribbler the time (and space) to beat him.

But what if the on-ball defender could immediately change direction and move to his left without any consequences? The balance of the game would be broken, as there is no reason for me to try to fake since it has little outcome on my ability to get past a defender. This results in outcomes that are less varied and less authentic.

Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure Review – Wii U (Also on 3DS and Windows PC)

Posted By Michael Leparc On October 23, 2013 at 10:46 am Comments Off on Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure Review – Wii U (Also on 3DS and Windows PC)

Scribblenauts Unmasked A DC Comics Adventure LeSuperheroesScribblenauts is a franchise that prides itself in centering its gameplay around the player’s imagination, so it’s interesting to see this latest edition willingly borrow from the decades of storytelling found within DC Comics annals for Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure. There’s a couple of pitfalls in such an undertaking, chiefly in the possibility of undermining the gameplay by handing the player too many crutches in the form of superheroes and their associated powers, but also in not treating the subject matter with the reverence fans expect. 5th Cell manages to escape the latter, at least.
