Capsized_screen_shot_02Capsized originally came out for the PC on the steam service about 2 years ago in 2011, and was fairly well received. Fast forward to July 2013 and it has finally received a console release for the Xbox 360’s XBLA service. Was the wait worth it for those who didn’t have PC’s or wish for a console experience? Life is like a hurricane, as Capcom today announced that DuckTales: Remastered will officially release from this August on all major platforms: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. In North America, the game will be available for digital download on August 13 (on PSN, Nintendo eShop on Wii U and PC), with an XBLA version launching September 11. Additionally, on August 20, a boxed version (with download code and exclusive DuckTales Disney collector’s pin) will be offered on PlayStation 3 at retailers across the country. DuckTales: Remastered is priced at $14.99 for the digital version and $19.99 for the retail version on PS3.

To help celebrate this quack-tastic news, the team has released the very first “Duckumentary” video, which goes behind the scenes with the talented developers at WayForward. The series of videos (beginning today and released every other week until the game’s launch) chronicles the creative process of bringing back Scrooge McDuck and one of the most cherished 8-bit titles of all time to current generation gaming platforms. Additional “Travel Tip” videos from Launchpad McQuack will begin releasing next week and up until “launch,” so be on the lookout for those as well!

Animal Crossing New Leafi_38999Say what you want about Animal Crossing, but my character can carry a shark in her pocket, and that’s pretty hardcore. The charm of Animal Crossing New Leaf is one that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. The cross-generational appeal is not the only part of the game that knocks down barriers. Animal Crossing games appeal to people who are long time gamers with huge collections and also to people who spend far less time holding controllers. The format welcomes those new to games, but is also challenging enough for people who are veteran gamers. How does the game manage to do all that with so little? It focuses on simple joy.

Posted By Michael Leparc On July 10, 2013 at 4:14 pm 1 COMMENT

Remember Me Logo SmallSummer has typically been a slower season for game releases, a time where publishers can experiment by introducing new properties that might not otherwise get attention when placed up against the annual AAA heavyweight releases in the fall. What they left us with was a refreshing experience that while flawed in some predictable ways, still creates a lasting impression on players willing to look past them.

GRID 2 Screenshot 1Racing games are a guilty pleasure of mine. You can enjoy a drive in the country, or in the city, without wasting real world time and gas. But finding a good racing game is hard for me. I’m not into the ultra realistic simulation of a game like Forza, but sometimes the ultra arcade feel of a game like Cruisin’ USA or Mario Kart leaves you wanting something more than just cartoony racing. What side of the coin does Grid 2 fall on? Read on to find out.
