Brutal Legend – Review (Windows PC)

Posted By Eric Kelly On March 12, 2013 at 12:21 pm Comments Off on Brutal Legend – Review (Windows PC)

derfeef_02Long for the days that metal was the rockin’ sauce with awesome tunes jammed out to backdrops of ancient locales? Well get ready to rock out to the PC release of Brutal Legend! It may have taken four years, but good things come to those who wait. Or do they?

Brutal Legend starts out when a legendary roadie named Eddie Riggs, played by Jack Black of Tenacious D, is caught up in an accident that ends up with him being transported to an unnamed world inspired by metal music and lore that looks straight out of Heavy Metal. There he discovers that he has the power to kill with his guitar and has a natural ability with an axe that he finds lying around. Soon he meets a woman named Ophelia and learns that she is part of a rebellion to defeat a demon named Doviculus to free humanity from his grasp. Seeing that the resistance is tiny and needs members and supplies, Eddie lends his talents as a roadie and newly awakened warrior skills to be the group’s makeshift tactician.

A SimCity Update – And Something For Your Troubles a Free EA Game

Posted By Justin Lee On March 9, 2013 at 10:56 am Comments Off on A SimCity Update – And Something For Your Troubles a Free EA Game

simcity_logo_smallFor all of you who have been having trouble playing SimCity because of the online issues, Maxis has released a statement and offered a free game EA game download starting March 18th for the people who have already activated their SimCity game, so keep an eye on your inbox. Here’s the official statement:

Here’s a quick update on the problems we were experiencing with SimCity – and a little something extra for people who bought the game. The server issues which began at launch have improved significantly as we added more capacity. But some people are still experiencing response and stability problems that we’re working fast to address.

So what went wrong? The short answer is: a lot more people logged on than we expected. More people played and played in ways we never saw in the beta.

OK, we agree, that was dumb, but we are committed to fixing it. In the last 48 hours we increased server capacity by 120 percent. It’s working – the number of people who have gotten in and built cities has improved dramatically. The number of disrupted experiences has dropped by roughly 80 percent.

So we’re close to fixed, but not quite there. I’m hoping to post another update this weekend to let everyone know that the launch issues are behind us.

The final Skylanders Giants is here, Ninjini. Ninjini was the most renowned magical ninja from ancient times, long before the Arkeyans ever rose to power. But a dark sorceress, who was jealous of Ninjini’s skill as a warrior, trapped her within an enchanted bottle to be imprisoned for all of eternity. Time stretched on, yet Ninjini remained steadfast and determined to escape – even mastering the dual sword technique within the solitude of her bottle. Over the years, her strength continued to grow until alas, through sheer force of will, she broke free! From that moment on, Ninjini made it her mission to help those in need as one of the first Skylanders, always carrying that enchanted bottle as a reminder of her own resilience.

Time has moved on. Power has shifted. New greed replaces the old.
But to remain free in the city of chains – that is still the greatest prize.
First I stole to survive… then I survived to steal.
I am one man; I hear your secrets, see your hidden truths.
I am the shadows, the dark and deadly, the velvet night. You will not see me coming.

I am Garrett….What’s yours is mine.

There is a rising tide of fear in The City. Hatred saturates every stone and whilst the rich prosper, the less fortunate face misery and repression. Ravaged with sickness and famine, they wait for something to change.
